Let’s say you are a insurance sales agent hunting for fresh-meat real estate agents who have just received their license. An example of this would be: “Hi X, this is Y with Z firm – saw you had just gotten your license and I am sure I am not the first insurance agent to bother you – how has the transition to getting used to being a 1099 employee been?”
This kind of opening does a couple of things:
- Acknowledges their situation that they may be getting reached out to by a lot of agents, and you know you’re not the only one
- Steers away from understanding if they JUST need insurance in a way that you become their *trusted advisor* and confidant. As someone who should be working with a handful of 1099 employees you probably have much more insight you can share with them!
- Chances are, with a little rapport, they are much more likely to share their insurance needs with someone who cares about what is happening in their life.
